Our lawyers play a vital role in improving outcomes for children. If you want that sense of satisfaction that comes from knowing that your work has made a difference to someone else’s life for good, why not come and join our dedicated team? As you would expect, we believe that such dedication deserves an equal commitment from us. Those who join us are rewarded not only with genuine career progression opportunities but also a salary commensurate with knowledge and experience in child protection law and practice.

We work in a business focused agile way, so that we are there when and where our clients need us. We also recognise that we all have career/life goals and run a flexible working scheme, including working from home to ensure you get the work/life balance you deserve.

As a Lawyer you will have experience of child protection. You will work as part of the wider busy team within the children and families legal section but you will be in one of the four pods and have a smaller team of lawyers, paralegals, senior legal assistants and legal assistants to support you.

You will need to have an ability to command the respect, trust and confidence of your clients and senior managers as well as the court.

As a Senior Lawyer, you will manage a complex caseload of public children law matters, including non-accidental injury, chronic neglect and cases with international elements. You will have the skills and interest in conducting your own advocacy.

What we are looking for:

Lawyer

Qualified solicitor, Barrister or Cilex with a current practising certificate and rights to conduct litigation for England and Wales.

Senior lawyer

Significant post-qualification experience in children’s law, with a proven track record of handling complex proceedings.

Excellent advocacy skills and the ability to present cases persuasively at all court levels.

A commitment to mentoring and developing others, fostering a culture of learning and best practice.

Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with colleagues, clients and external partners.

Gloucestershire is a great place to live and work and when you combine it with generous leave and support to meet career aspirations, it becomes more attractive. What’s more, where appropriate, there is a contribution towards relocation and for the longer term there is a pension which provides some great retirement benefits and life insurance.
