About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our busy Revenues and Benefits Service as a Revenues Officer within the Billing Team at Gloucester City Council. Based at our Eastgate office in the city of Gloucester and predominantly offering the flexibility of remote working, this role provides a diverse and interesting range of responsibilities focused on the accurate and timely billing of Council Tax.
As a vital member of the Billing Team, you will be responsible for administering Council Tax accounts, including setting up direct debits, applying discounts and exemptions, maintaining accurate customer records and tracing absconded taxpayers. Your understanding of relevant legislation, together with experience in local authority benefits or revenues administration, will support effective day-to-day decision making. You will also support customers by providing clear information about their bills, payment arrangements and any available support.
What we need from you:
As a Revenues Officer, you will play a crucial role in the accurate and timely administration of Council Tax billing. Your commitment, teamwork, and ability to work independently will be vital in completing tasks and achieving targets while supporting the Council's vision, values, and strategic objectives.
You will be a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual able to cope well under pressure, dealing with difficult situations, using your own initiative. Ability to communicate effectively with people both verbally and in writing, using tact and discretion where required, will be instrumental in assisting customers facing difficulties in paying their bills. Your ability to work methodically, prioritise workloads has resulted in effective teamwork and exceptional customer satisfaction.
To be considered for the role you will be required to be computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
